David M. Bird

Founding Editor, Journal of Unmanned Vehicle Systems

As an Emeritus Professor of Wildlife Biology of McGill University in Canada, Dr. Bird has published 200 peer-reviewed papers on wildlife, authored/edited 10 books, and supervised 50 graduate students.

He has worked with Unmanned Aerial Vehicles for 10 years, e.g. counting water birds and mapping their habitat use, censusing hawk and eagle nests, dispersing nuisance birds, tracking birds wearing transmitters, and detecting caribou in Labrador.

As the founding editor of the Journal of Unmanned Vehicle Systems, he also serves as a board member of Unmanned Systems Canada and on the Board of Advisors for the Unmanned Systems Institute.

He has given several keynote talks and organized symposia and panel discussions on UAVs and wildlife studies at conferences world-wide.
